Today is D-Day for A level results and results posted by schools show that there has been a drop in the number of students who got an A and A* grade. More than 300,000 students in
England, Scotland and Wales took the exams. The results a re down after a record number of students took science and maths subjects.
The results also show that more boys got an A* grades than girls but girls got more A grades overall. University clearing has now opened and have reported the highest number of acceptances in recent years even though university fees were raised to £9000 last year.
Some Russell group universities which include Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham have also allowed clearing places for the first time. In line with the level of grades this year, universities are now accepting students who have scored ABB as a minimum for most courses.
If you have just just received your results and you have been given a conditional offer, you will need to go to your ucas or contact that university to complete your application.
If you have not made the grades, don't panic. You can get a place through Clearing.
