Lewis Hamilton Grand Prix win in pictures

Lewis Hamilton set to win the 2014 Formula One World Drivers' Championship

As Lewis Hamilton wins the Malaysian Grand-Prix I foresee him winning the Formula One World Drivers' Championship (WDC) this year.  His performance was exceptional at the Malaysian GP and he has now matched fellow Briton's, Jim Clark's (1963-65) record with 33 pole positions for qualifying. Hamilton at 29 stands a good chance of achieving more than Clark who had 33 ploes. As I watched Hamilton weave at top speed through the tracks today, I could see talent and courage there. He has it in him to win because he is just too fast and he is going in the right direction, with the right attitude. As much as Vittel was trying to catch up, it was difficult to take the lead.

The Mercedes cars too were superb. I heard Hamilton say that the noise levels were quite low in the car now and that he could hear some of the instructions clearly.

The Championship is awarded by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) to the most successful Formula One racing car driver over a season, as determined by a points system based on Grand Prix results.

Overall, thirty two different drivers have won the Championship, with Michael Schumacher holding the record for most titles, at seven. Schumacher also holds the record for most consecutive Drivers' Championships, winning five from 2000 to 2004. The United Kingdom has produced the most World Championship winning drivers with ten; Brazil and Finland are next with three each.

Hamilton wins Malaysian GP and dedicates it to families of passengers of flight MH370

Malaysian Grand-Prix
Lewis Hamilton took a dominant win in the Malaysian GP to lead Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to a one-two finish.

Hamilton was in control from the start, converting his position into a lead at the first corner and controlling the race. Rosberg was unable to keep up, and concentrated on ensuring he stayed ahead of Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel.
Mercedes' one-two was the team's first since the 1955 Italian Grand Prix.
Recent rules changes may have affected some of the drivers and especially Red Bull's Vettel. The hybrid electric/turbo charged engines are much smaller and more quiet reducing in size from 2.4 to 1.6l.

Hamilton dedicated the win to the families of the passengers lost in the disappearance of flight MH370.

Celebrating the win, Lewis Hamilton said: "It's been pretty special, I have never had the best of luck here. I have always had the pace but things have gone wrong.
"But today - what a great feeling, the guys did a great job, I am so proud of this team, what a great job they have done collectively. I am sure they're always there are things we can improve, I have learnt so much from today to take into the next race.
"I would have to say this is the best car I have ever driven."

This is how Mother's Day started - The history of Mothering Sunday

Many of us call the day when we celebrate mothers,  Mother's Day but in fact, it is normally called Mothering Sunday. Here is the story of how a special day was set aside for mothers...

During the sixteenth century in Europe, people returned to their mother church - which is the main church, cathedral or largest church in a local area, for a service to be held on the fourth Sunday during Lent (the period of fasting) in the Christian calender.  Anyone who did this was commonly said to have gone "a-mothering".

According to David Self in his book, One hundred readings for assembly, he states that eventually, Mothering Sunday became a day when domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mother church, usually with their own mothers and other family members. It was often the only time that whole families could gather together, since on other days they were prevented by conflicting working hours, and servants were not given free days on other occasions.

Children and young people who were household servants were given a day off on that date so they could visit their families (or, originally, return to their "mother" church). The children would pick wild flowers along the way to place in the church or give to their mothers. Eventually, the religious tradition evolved into the Mothering Sunday secular tradition of giving gifts to mothers and more recently called Mother's Day by all other people regardless of religion.

Two women who had been friends since childhood had their friendship end tragically, when one threw acid in the face of the other while wearing a veil as a disguise.  Twenty-two year old Mary Konye who lives in Canning Town has been jailed for 12 years for allegedly attacking Naomi Oni because she had called her ugly.
Naomi Oni also twenty-two,  suffered burns to her face and chest in the attack near her home in Dagenham, east London, in December 2012. Mary Konye had worn a veil while secretly following her victim home from work before pouring the acid on her.
Ms Oni needed skin grafts and has suffered permanent scars to her leg, chest, stomach and arms and was almost blinded in one eye.
She must wear a silicon face mask and faces further reconstructive surgery.
Early last year, Ms Oni had been wrongly accused by the prosecution of pouring the acid on herself to gain publicity. It was only when CCTV footage of the incident was found that the truth was unraveled.

Roman Abramovich may be dragged into New 'COLD WAR' with Putin and the West

President Barack Obama stressed that he would introduce more sanctions against President Putin for Russia's invasion of Crimea. Now talks are going on about whether Roman Abramovich should be on the hit list of Russians to be frozen out of Europe and the US and therefore dragging him into New 'COLD WAR' with Putin and the West.

What could have happened to Malaysian Airline Flight MH370? Here are the theories...

A Malaysian Boeing 777 Flight
It has been two weeks since the Malaysian Flight MH370 disappeared mid-air. There were 239 lives on board, ranging in age from 2 to 77, 25 countries are involved in the recovery process. 200 ships are now searching the seas, 100s of satellite gadgets involved, 1000s of family members in limbo. This is the mystery the whole world is trying to solve. What is most scary is that this could happen to any plane. The incident is simply mind boggling. Especially with all the latest technology, satellites around the world and in space and yet none of the award winning professors, engineers, scientists, technicians, star gazers can detect a massive 200ft long plane. Latest reports claim that Britain, America and China have sent in their best warships to scan the Indian Ocean after Australian analysis of satellite images reveal two objects possibly related to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 1,500 miles south west of Perth.

So, what could have happened to Malaysian Airline Flight? Here are the theories...

  1. A terrorist attack. People who knew how to manoeuvre the plane took over the plane and gassed everyone out. Before that they turned the plane around and where making their way to a US base nearby before passing out as well.
  2. The pilots could have been the terrorists because one of the pilots were in contact with the travel controllers on ground saying, “Alright, Goodnight,” which is a code used by pilots to warn the land crew that there is trouble on board. After this greeting all signals from the plane were lost.
  3. The plane crashed over the huge forests in Malaysia and it is hard to find the exact spot where it could have crashed.
  4. It was the work of some powerful countries so that they can step up surveillance in Southeast Asia and further protect their bases.
  5. An alien hijack.
  6. The plane flew too high and got lost in space.
  7. The flight turned because of fire on board, so the pilots disabled the controls and tried to fly back to a familiar airport.
  8. A Bermuda triangle in the air that caught the plane and sucked it into an abyss.

Women have 'No Excuses' according to Gloria Feldt - Empowering insights and inspiration

Feminist icon Gloria Feldt pulls no punches in her new book, which encourages women to step into positions of power and leadership—now. In No Excuses, she argues that the most confounding problem facing women today isn’t that doors aren’t open, but that not enough women are walking

Empowering Women in MARRIAGE Part 1 - Celebrating the International Women's Day 2014

I hope these tips will empower women in their marriages.I will be sharing more articles like this throughout the day. Happy International Women's Day ladies!
  1. Men would rather feel unloved than inadequate and disrespected. Husbands need to know that their wives respect them both privately and publicly. Men thrive when they know that their wives trust them, admire them and believe in them. Shaunti Feldhahn’s research indicated that men would rather sense the loss of loving feelings from their wives than to be disrespected by them.
  2. A man’s anger is often a response to feeling disrespected by his wife. When a husband becomes angry with his wife, he may not come out and say, “You’re disrespecting me!” But, there is a good likelihood that he is feeling stung by something his wife has done which he considers disrespectful and humiliating.
  3. Men are insecure. Men are afraid that they aren’t cutting it in life — not just at work, but at home, in their role as a husband. They may never vocalize this, but inwardly, they are secretly vulnerable. The antidote? Affirmation. To men, affirmation from their wives is everything! If they don’t receive this affirmation from their wives, they’ll seek it elsewhere. When they receive regular and genuine affirmation from their wives (not flattery, by the way), they become much more secure and confident in all areas of their lives.
  4. Men feel the burden of being the provider for their family. Intellectually, it doesn’t matter how much or little a man makes, or whether or not his wife makes more or less money in her career. Men simply bear the emotional burden of providing for their family. It’s not a burden they’ve chosen to bear. Men are simply wired with this burden. As such, it is never far from their minds and can result in the feeling of being trapped. While wives cannot release their husbands from this burden, they can relieve it through a healthy dose of appreciation, encouragement and support.
  5. Men want more sex. Everyone’s natural response to this is probably, “Duh!” But, that response is probably for the wrong reason. We primarily assume that men want more sex with their wives due to their physical wiring (their “needs”). But, surprisingly, Shaunti Feldhahn’s research showed that the reason men want more sex is because of their strong need to be desired by their wives. Men simply need to be wanted. Regular, fulfilling sex is critical to a man’s sense of feeling loved and desired.
  6. Sex means more than sex. When men feel their wives desire them sexually, it has a profound effect on the rest of their lives. It gives them an increasing sense of confidence and well-being that carries over into every other area of his life. The flipside of this coin also carries a profoundly negative affect. When a husband feels rejected sexually, he not only feels his wife is rejecting him physically, but that she is somehow rejecting his life as a husband, provider and man. This is why making sex a priority in marriage is so incredibly important!
  7. Men struggle with visual temptation. This means the vast majority of men respond to visual images when it comes to women. And, this doesn’t just mean the guys with wandering eyes. Even the most godly husband cannot avoid noticing a woman who dresses in a way that draws attention to her body. Even if it is just a glance, these visual images are stored away in the male brain as a sort of “visual rolodex” that will reappear without any warning. Men can choose whether to dwell on these images and memories or dismiss them, but they can’t control when these images appear.
  8. Men enjoy romance, but doubt their skills to be romantic. True, many men appear to be unromantic clods, but it doesn’t mean that they want to be that way! Men want to be romantic, but they just doubt their ability to pull it off. They are plagued by internal hesitations, perceiving the risk of humiliation and failure as too high. Wives can do a great deal to increase their husbands’ confidence in their romantic skills through encouragement and redefining what romance looks like. For example, a wife may balk when her husband asks her to go along to the hardware store, but it’s likely that he’s asking because he sees it as a time they can get away as a couple and hang out together. What’s not romantic about that?
  9. Men care about their wife’s appearance. This isn’t saying that all men want their wives to look like the latest supermodel. What men really want is to know that their wives are making an effort to take care of themselves (and not letting themselves go) because it matters to them (the husbands!). Husbands appreciate the efforts their wives make to maintain their attractiveness.
  10. Men want their wives to know how much they love them. This was the number one response of men. Men aren’t confident in their ability to express this, but they love their wives dearly. Men want to show how much they love their wives and long for them to understand this fact.

Justice for Nigerian rape victims at last? - Musician Obesere charged. "I bled for more than two weeks" —Victim

LAGOS — There were indications, yesterday, that the case involving popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, also known as Obesere, arrested for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya, in his Okota residence may have been  transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.

Sources told Vanguard, yesterday, that the embattled musician preferred the SCID to the  Isolo Police division because the DPO had insisted on the matter going to court.

Normally, it is  the Divisional Police Officer at Isolo Division, Aminu Ibrahim, that should have ordered the transfer of the case to SCID for further investigations.

But Obesere was alleged to have used his contacts in the police to have the case transferred to SCID.

A police source also disclosed that Obesere found it difficult to pressurize the DPO at Isolo into striking out the matter or persuade the victim to accept a settlement.

The source, who craved anonymity, also said Obesere contacted some top citizens to wade into the matter by persuading the DPO to soft-pedal on the  matter but they backed down when they discovered that the police have incriminating evidence against the musician.

Victim relocates to Sagamu for treatment
Meantime, the victim, Olaiya, told Vanguard yesterday that she had relocated to her home town, Sagamu in Ogun State, where she is currently receiving treatment for the rape incident.
Olaiya, who spoke with Vanguard on the telephone, said: “As I speak with you, I am in Sagamu, my home town, where I have been  receiving traditional treatment since the incident occurred.
I bled for more than two weeks —Victim
“I bled for more than two weeks after Alhaji Obesere raped me and inserted his ring into my private part. The incident occurred on February 12, 2013 and I have spent a lot of money treating myself.
“The DPO, Isolo Police division, took pity on me and refused to give in to Obesere’s pressure to  strike out the case and God will bless him for that.
“But last week I was informed that the case had been transferred to the SCID and my Investigating Police Office, IPO, at Isolo asked me to come to the station on Tuesday for the transfer.
“But when I got to the SCID, I discovered the IPO, who took over the case, one Mr. Jacob, I don’t know his rank, became hostile to me.
“You need to see how this man treated me. He started by asking me to write a new statement and when I tried to explain that I had written a statement at Isolo division, he rebuffed my explanation and insisted I wrote a new one.
They threatened to kill me
“Afterwards, they started threatening me. The IPO, Alhaji Obesere, and some of his brothers, who were present there, asked me to stop the journalists from publishing my story and if I don’t, I will be a dead person.
“I was so frightened when they said this and each time my phone rang someone would pick it up to know who was calling.
“Later, they discovered  I wasn’t going to break, then they started begging me and promised to take care of me. Alhaji Obesere even said he was going to take me to the best hospital for treatment.
“At the end, I rose to leave and they offered to drop me in my place. The IPO also insisted that I should follow them. Instead of taking me to my area, they took me to Obesere’s house and the woman who introduced me to him was also there.
“While I was with them I alerted the police at Isolo and told them where I was.
“But yesterday, they called after they saw the publication and started threatening again to kill me.
“I am highly terrified, that was why I travelled back  to my home to get some treatment.”

Europe latest: 5 Reasons why UK and US are fighting for Ukraine

Map of Crimea, showing Kerch where President Putin wants to build a bridge to connect Russia with Crimea
You may either be wondering how the mayhem in Ukraine affects you or you may be just like many other people wondering when the missiles signalling the beginning of the third world will be fired.

Either way you look at the events unfolding in Ukraine, one thing will surely never happen - there will be no war. And here are the simple reasons why:

  • it is the US and Europe's wish to have 'a piece of the cake' which is the Ukraine because the west wants more people in the European Union and in their sisterly club. More people equals more power. The Ukraine has a population of 45.59 million which was recorded in 2012. Europeans are 739.2 million according to 2011 figures. Russians are 143.5 million according to the 2012 figures - the former Soviet Union had over 500 million people according to Wikipedia - so let's do the sums. In the event that Russia and the west face each other who would have the upper hand?;
  • with the economic recession, most of the world powers are not financially as buoyant as before. UK cannot afford a war right now, neither can USA - especially not after Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya etc. And, the $20 billion bail out money promised to Ukraine today is a sure plan that the west want to 'buy' Ukraine (as in a bribe) and then,  'slaughtered' financially;
  • Mr. Kerry, the US spokes person warned that Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin, might be preparing to expand the scope of his country’s military operation into eastern Ukraine. So, the Kremlin too has vested interested in increasing its power and might;
  • to lay their hands on Ukraine's oil and gas which will help fuel British factories and heat homes further and without disruption;
  • war will disrupt the peaceful economic boom which is going on between Ukraine and the west and Ukraine and the east. Ukraine is like a child with two warring parents - it would be difficult to decide who to go with, the east (Russia) of the west (Europe and USA) but time will tell;
  • Ukraine is a cheap labour destination just like India and many western countries have major business interests, shops and factories there - so, the west wants the action to go in a bigger and better way without leaders who would stop them from making the most of a poor labour force. Putin on the other hand wants to maintain the passage through Crimea to the west, he doesn't want to be cut off my a new Ukraine with leanings towards Europe.
 Russia and the west have always being at loggerheads from the cold war days, the Ukraine crisis has merely brought this shaky relationship to the surface.
