Exam results are expected to rise as about 45% of pupils are expected to achieve five or more A* to C grades. Results have increased each year since 1988 when the GCSEs were
introduced. This has given the government some cause for concern as the GCSEs may be viewed as easy or no longer effective. There have been calls by the education ministers to abandon the course and bring back the O-levels as the results get better.
Reforms however have taken place. As from September 2012, pupils starting their GCSE course will no longer sit modular exams. There will be no more re-sits and pupils will take a final exam at the end of each course.
Additionally, this year's results have been down graded and there is fear of closures in the school community as they face tougher targets due to new measures announced by the government.
We wish all the pupils who have worked hard for this exam brilliant results!
