It was a day that would be fondly remembered. Being our first ever breakfast event, I was quite uncertain as to what the outcome of the event would be. But my brilliant team made up of Ayomide, Temitope, Adeleke, Rotimi, Damilare, Setemi, Nicole and Keane all went the extra - special mile and made the whole event roll by successfully.
By 9:15 gorgeous ladies began to arrive and bang on time the venue had filled up and put our slightly delayed start time to shame - this I must commend them all for.
Our chef, Jose was on hand creating a marvelous hot breakfast meal of toasts, baked beans, bacon, fried eggs, sausages, cereal, tea and coffee.
The MC was elegant in a smashing turquoise summer suit set the event in motion by starting with a prayer.
As the ladies had their breakfast, they were treated to motivational words of empowerment by our four inspirational speakers and leading thinkers.Money raised would go towards a computer and resources for our Education Centre in London. The centre offers support for women, young people and children by empowering them and raising aspirations in education and in employment or self-employment,
The first speaker was Shola Bademosi, the founder of ‘Let’s go there’ a popular talk show programme on Oasis 46.4 Radio UK. She shared a wealth of advice on the challenges women face in relationships, in their career, as parents and a single people and how rise above our challenges and aim for the best. She reminded us that time does not wait and that women should be more pro-active in life.
The second speaker was Dr Ranti Lawumi, a practicing psychologist with the NHS mental health trust who has a special interest in the prevention and treatment of depression. Dr Lawumi offered teachings and personal insights on how to improve low self esteem. She said that women were more likely to suffer from low self esteem than man and this stops women from reaching their full potential in life.
Multi
award winning Nollywood actress, model, producer, playwright and Nollywood Queen, HRH, Theodora Oyebade-Ibekwe was our third speaker. Having achieved a lot in her personal life and in her career here in the UK, Mrs Oyebade-Ibekwe talked to us about the importance of social media in creating success. She offered ways in which to use it to enhance our careers.
The last speaker was Eunice Adu-Appiah a sports graduate. The professional health and fitness instructor showed us how what we eat affects our health and general well-being. Giving us practical examples, she explained that the type of food we eat and how much exercise we do can increase our energy level and increase our life span.
Midway through the event, we were entertained by comedian Don Nice who gave us some jokes. A highlight was the gele session by Bisola Ojumu. The ladies brought out their geles and were taught step by step how to tie different head-ties. As the event organiser and founder of Enrich Africa, Morin Okenla ended with a string of inspiring words and personal insights.
Our next event will be taking place on 8 August 2015, so, please, register.
