Yorubas pioneer the AFRICAN INTEGRATION FESTIVAL 2013 in Abeokuta, Nigeria

www.nigerianescort.com

I was at Olumo Rock as part of preparation for AFRICAN INTEGRATION FESTIVAL 2013 , since I was in-charge of Media and Fashion Show. It is a festival which started in 2010 and has grown in concept and content. It has metamorphosed from a beauty pageant into an
integration festival where Africans from different countries and in the diaspora to meet up and promote their common culture and race.

The Organiser Mr Bonny Botoku is the Secretary General of Borderline Peace and Security Forum. It is from here, that the inspiration to run a cultural related programme that could promote integration among Africa came from.

His vision is to see Africa without borders. This year's edition is taking a new shape as it is a week -long festival which kicks off on 24th to 30th November, 2013. Activities lined up for the festival, themed: The Home Coming of the Yorubas will include various cultural events.

According to research, it has been discovered that millions of Yorubas lost to slavery have never got the opportunity of visiting Africa which is their ancestral land. We noticed that some of these people exist in different countries including Haiti, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Republic of Benin and other countries .

This festival would, therefore, commence with a Cultural Fair where all the participants would celebrate together. Tourists and visitors would be taken to destinations in Ogun State and to the King's Palace to experience royalty in the motherland. This would be followed by a cultural exhibition and fashion show billed to hold on 27 November at Olumo Rock Centre, Abeokuta. In addition, there would be an integration peace meeting between the Nigerian security officers and security officers from other Africa countries cumulating with a Military Parade and Exchange of pleasantries.

The grand finale holds on 30 November with a Gala Night and Miss Integration Beauty Pageant. The event would hold in different venues including Olumo Rock Complex Cultural Center all in Abeokuta Ogun State. This event has the endorsement of the Ogun State government.
