John Okafor aka Mr Ibu on the red carpet |
When I asked my good friend Teju Ibukunola of Femtej Kreations who the stars and co stars of this Mr Ibu film were, she simply said - It was just 'Mr Ibu,' I considered going to review a film that only had one 'star'. After a long consideration, I decided to go to see whether it was worth the journey.
And,
it was worth it. Soon, the night was filled with wanna-be celebrities,
the press, excited fans and the Nollywood show stoppers themselves. The Red Carpet glittered with glamourously dressed folk. I
was amazed to see thousands of fans. Nigerians and Sierra-Leoneans grace
the event to support John Okafor aka Mr Ibu - one of Nigeria’s most
talented
comic characters in the movie industry and producer, Collins
Archie-Pearce who also wrote the script for the new
film "IBU IN SIERRA LEONE".
Also present at the premier were important dignitaries from Sierra-Leone such as:
The former President of Sierra-Leone -
Ernest Bai Koroma
The Sierra-Leone High Commissioner - Peter West
Actor - Fatima Jabbe
The Deputy Commissioner of Internal Affairs - MR SHEKA TARAWALIE,
Nigerian Film Producer - Eko Olivia
John Okafor became known as 'Mr Ibu' after he appeared in a comedy film in 1978. He has also featured in the film ‘Vuga’, with Gentle Jack and Regina Askia, in ‘Uncle Wayward’ and in ‘Jealousy'.
