JD: Our main office Is in Lagos and we have an office in Abuja. If people in London, America or in Asia want to get in touch with me, they can send an email to: joycebeautyworks@gmail.com

ISM: What has been your greatest success so far?
JD: Well, as in any business that is just starting, initially it was a bit difficult. I started 16 years ago from Lagos and I remember that when I first started talking about herbal treatments, people were confused. Many people said I was a herbalist. Others were quite inquisitive and wanted to know what kind of herbalist I was. Some called me a ‘baba-alawo’ - a traditional herbalist or doctor when I talked about herbs and vegetables. It took me four years to get into the market. Then, people began to try the herbal products and found them to be good. Gradually, customers introduced me other people.

ISM: What challenges have you had to deal with?
JD: In every human-being’s live, you always have ups and downs. The time I found most challenging was when I tried to open my first shop in London three years. You too know how difficult it is start and run a business in London. Anyway, I decided to appear on TV and over 100 people came to our new shop. It has not been easy but gradually people have started coming. So, did it all start?
l opened my first shop in Peckham within three years of setting up my business and another one in Catford four years later. I had a short break when I had my baby but customers kept calling- they wanted the products here in the UK. So, I got a friend to help me post the products to people in England and last month, I came to open our office in Croydon, UK.

ISM: What are your marketing secrets?
JD: Apart from word of mouth where customers refer their friends and family to me, I give out my flyers and I appear on TV stations such as BEN TV every Saturday between 11:30 and 12midday. Our adverts appear on the NOLLYWOOD channel every evening, on FOX Africa on Saturdays and an advert is planned for Naija Paper, UK.

ISM: Are there any other businesses you involved in?
JD: I also run a property company. We sell plots of land to investors and ordinary buyers. The land is at Lope, Airport Road, Abuja in Nigeria. This is a new development where choice land is selling at the moment. We have different categories  of land depending on what people want. We offer land, half developments at various stages or completed buildings. For more information about buying land- customers can call: +2348057547300

ISM: Finally, what is the secret of your success-especially as a mother six blessed children?
JD:  Two of my children are completing their higher education and the four younger ones are with me in Nigeria. All I can say is that the secret of success is hard work and having God by your side. If you have Christ, you can have it all - protection, revelations about your life and future. Most career people are carried away by their career but I have mapped out plan for family and for my business. Both are separate and don't mix. Business does not mix with my family and family does not mix with business.

ISM: Wow! That makes sense. Thank you so much for your time and it has really been nice talking to you and I wish you all the best in your endeavours!
DJ: It was nice talking to you too…
