Who are you?
Bukky Durojaiye Byass, The President of the MGHSOGA/IRELAND.
What's your organisation called?
MGHS Old Girls Association UK/Ireland.
What is the association about?
The coming together of girls who went to one of the oldest established school in Nigeria (in fact the oldest girls school) Methodist Girl's High School which was founded in 1879, 138 years ago. Located in Loko Yaba Lagos.
How many members have you got?
We about 200 but we are more, we are growing.
Any other other officials? We have a Treasurer/ Financial secretary, Secretary, deputy Social Sec and a deputy
Welfare officer.
What event are you organising and when?
Lit day 1st of July 2017.
Why Lit?
To raise funds to put back into our school. One of the oldest buildings in Nigeria needs to be modernised.
What does LIT stand for?
Literary and Debating.
What is the history of LIT?
It was one of the extra curricular activities organised by schools in our days. It is a day set side for a debating competition among the students from various schools in Lagos, Nigeria. It usually took place on a Saturday. We always looked forward to that day depending on the school hosting the event.
Any thoughts about Lit Day 2017?
Last year Lit Day was the 1st event hosted by MGHS OG. It was a blast from the past. We had over 12 schools attended.
What did you think went well?
The activities, such as Fashion Parade, Lip Syn the food and the Uniform theme. The effort of other schools in getting their uniforms.
What were the highlights?
The music, Dancing Competition and the food.
What did you think most people enjoyed?
Every aspect of the event!
What are you looking forward to this year?
The activities from the good to the best. The effort going on in the background. The level of effort deposited from schools in participating in all the activities. I can’t wait... 😊
What is the aim of the Lit Day 2018?
Themed 'Blast from the past'. The Lit Day 2018 is unique in the sense that it is different from usual dinner and dance events from other schools. This is about bringing back our school days Saturday outing for most of us many years ago.
What do you hope to achieve as an association? Increase our Alumni, give back to our dear school and support in building the old block.
What should attendees expect this time around? Dancing competition, Debate, lip sync, poetry, good atmosphere 💃 and lots of dancing!
What in particular should they look forward? The WOW Factor?
That will be revealed on Saturday come and see for yourself.

What is the dress code?
School uniform ideally but some left arrangements to last minute. Come in something to represent your school colours.
No jeans please!
