Nollywood Movie Review: IN A STRANGE LAND by Roseline Sanni Ajose and 96 GLAM photos

I was truly delighted to be at the Nollywood Movie Premier of the film, IN A STRANGE LAND by Roseline Sanni Ajose apart from meeting this beautiful and talented lady, I was met her children.

The movie is a true life story of a young girl who was tricked into coming to the UK by a lady whose business it is to import young girls to 'work' as slaves.

The lady will either travel to Nigeria or use her agents there to recruit potential victims from poor families in rural villages. The girls arrive the UK illegally and forced to work as maids. Ill-treated, they are kept under lock and key and are not allowed to go leave the house or get an education.

Their poor parents soon lose touch with their children and have no way of ever finding their children again. The UK government felt that the number of girls being forced into slavery was getting out of control and the Anti Slavery Bill was passed.

This film shows how girls are trafficked from Nigeria and ill-treated in the UK. In fact, a slave may be living next door to you and you wouldn't know it.

This film is thought-provoking drama. The writer wants us to be aware of human trafficking and to report any suspicious activity in our neigbourhoods.

The movie is fast, entertaining and hits hard on the abuse the slaves go through and the emotional turmoil the families who have lost a child experience.

Ms Rosekline Sanni Ajose noted at the end of the film that all the actors including her two young sons aged 7 and 4 were all novice actors. That was a surprise because all the actors were top-notch and professional. The little boys were brilliant and to me the actors who stood out the most were the main character, who acted the trafficked maid, the wife and the girl who had been trafficked but had now gained her freedom.

How would I rate this film? 5*

Well done to the producers and directors and to all the actors I am looking forward to the next one.

Now, enjoy all the lovely photos I took at the event. (All pictures are protected by copyright, if you want to use any pictures you must include ©iShineMagazine.
