The Macron Love Story - Would you marry someone 30 years older than you?

When I first heard the love story behind Emmanuel Macron, the newly elected president of France and his beau Brigitte, I was a little surprised. I though, 'hmm another weirdo.' When I later discovered that Brigitte was his secondary school teacher, I had just had to dig deeper. If you didn't know, Macron is 39 and his wife of 12 years is 68. They met when he was 16 and she was 45. But, she has said that 'nothing' happened until he was 18.

Yet French women love this setup. Many say, 'Why not.' Times are changing they say and if a man can marry a woman 40 years younger why not the other way round.

So, what makes older men and women to look for love in a far younger mates? Are the men looking for a mother figure? Are the women looking for a father figure? Or is it for financial security and fame? Would you marry someone 30 years older than you? What if your partner was 30 years older than you, would age matter?

I believe these things are difficult to explain - man meets women and they live happily ever after - maybe or maybe not.

Some people marry far older mates for love, for financial stability, to get into a successful career, to procreate, to have fun, to feel younger, to get a cook, maid or helper, for companionship, to feel good, to show off, for control and so on.
