London-UK: On Monday, page 6 of the Metro newspaper carries a picture showing the release of 82 of the kidnapped Chibok girls walking towards a plane. It shows the girls alighting a Nigerian Air Force aircraft with soldiers on guard.
According to the newspaper, the girls were released in exchange for 5 Boko Haram prisoners. It further reports that the girls were freed on Saturday.
In 2014, 276 girls were abducted from their boarding school in Chibok. This sparked various global demonstrations including #BringBackOurGirls led by Bukky Shonibare. 113 girls are still unaccounted for.
