How to Attend Medical School for Free in Cuba

Representatives of First Direct Education are recruiting for the Latin American School of Medicine, or Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (ELAM) in East Oakland starting from this week offering students between the ages of 18-24 in UK and in Nigeria a chance to study medicine in Cuba without charge. The ELAM medical school grew out of the Cuban government response to devastation left in the wake of hurricanes Mitch and George in 1998.
Cuba’s leaders realized that if the poorest regions in the hemisphere were able to develop adequate healthcare infrastructures, they could save as many lives every year as had been lost in the hurricanes.
The Cubans initially offered full scholarships to enroll at ELAM to young people from the nations affected by the hurricanes – on the sole condition that, once they graduated, they would return to their home countries and offer low-cost health services in their own underserved communities.

Students from communities of color and low-income communities are especially encouraged to apply to the program.
Enrollment dates for ELAM began Sept. 30 and continues through the middle of March 2015. For more information, visit http://firstdirecteducation.com for more information on how to apply and how to get a student visa.

UK becomes a super Big Brother state because of Boko Haram

BRITAIN - Today, home secretary Theresa May announced a 'snooping' charter which will turn teachers and internet providers in Britain into snoopers. Every single IP address will be monitored and under surveillance. All sites visited and downloaded material will be stored and accessed by the police ay random. Furthermore, Ms May said this would help foil threats from terrorists groups like Boko Haram in Nigeria.

One young woman, whose nose was pierced and her hair orange...and the death of Michael Brown

FERGUSON, USA - A few days a go, a writer for Channel 4 News was in Ferguson watching and interviewing the folk as new"One young woman, whose nose was pierced and her hair orange, told me she was scared," wrote Kylie Morris on her blog obviously trying to disguise her bias of people different from her. Writing about the death of teenage boy Michael Brown, she further stated that he was from 'that' side of town. Then she went on to say that the 'young woman had a young brother. "It could have been him. It could have been her. Only because of the colour of their skin. She was called Diamond. She says that now, everything changes," Kylie continued.

What has this statement got to do with the murder of Michael Brown an innocent 14-year-old black boy shot dead by police. Did her nose piercing and colour of her hair be how she is described? Tonight family, friends and neigbouring took to the streets to protest about the justice for the teenager after the policeman who shot him was released without charge.
When stereotyping ends in the world, then perhaps, we will live together in harmony.

Nicole Scherzinger celebrates with Lewis Hamilton as he wins Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

It was Sunday afternoon and I had almost missed the biggest race of the year. I decided to race through the traffic and head home quickly. Luckily, I made it!
The race started of smoothly with Hamilton taking a lead for several minutes. The moment he stopped to change his wheels was the most nerve racking. Two minutes it took seemed like eternity. He plunged onto the tracks again and was third for a long while. It was an amazing sight watching the cars race past over 200 luxurious yachts at the bay next to the tracks.
Finally, taking the lead, it was a relief to see Hamilton pass the famous chequered flag!
Well done Lewis Hamilton! You have done me proud!
Lewis' story is similar the that of the Williams sister...a dedicated dad who took special interest in his children's success!
If you have a child who wants to do something extra-ordinary, support them.

Captured on camera: Evil housemaid slaps, beats, jumps on little baby - Rated 21- Violent images watch with care

When I watched this yesterday night, I almost threw up. I couldn't watch it to the end and I had turn it off quickly. Each slap sounded so loud and cruel in fact I felt it on my face!!! This is extreme CHILD ABUSE! Please only watch this if you are strong. This housemaid will appear in court on December 8 in Uganda.

Having just returned from Nigeria, I can say that 99 per cent of mothers rely on househelps, nannies, driverd and so on to make life easy. The relationship between house-helps and African mothers isa long, bittersweet one.

If you live in Europe or in America, you could get by without help. It will be difficult but life will still go on. In Africa generally, the case is different. As people move into the cities, family ties are broken. Sometimes, even within Lagos for example, families may never see each other for months due to work arrangements, traffic and security. So, the house help is quite important especially in a region where there are no social benefits if you decide to stay at home as a new mum to take care of your child. And, even if you wanted to stay at home, would you want to take a baby through four or five hours of traffic, pollution and in temperatures of up to 37 degrees?

I remember aged 12 and with four junior siblings behind when my mother announced that we would no longer have house-helps. I was over the moon. All the house-helps we ever had stole from us. After that we manged fine and I learned a lot.

My advice to mums in Africa is to employ maids with care. Apart from physical violence I have heard of cases where maids pass on demonic powers, afflictions and many other ailments to the children. Some even kidnap the children and organise their contacts to steal everything in the house. I would only employ a maid if it was absolutely neccesary. Nurseries are much better but then you need more money for a good one plus you won't get all the extra help such as cleanng the car, sweeping, washing up and so on that ypu would with a maid.

I have noticed that more and more families now have washer-dryers, dishwashers and vacuum cleaners so probably soon the need for maids in by African mothers will decrease.

Best Wishes to Grand Prix Champion racer, Lewis Hamilton

I wish Lewis Hamilton all the best today as he races later today for his second world championship, Although, he will start second in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday after again being beaten to pole position by Nico Rosberg, his great rival and Mercedes team‑mate but I am sure he can do it! You can watch the race on BBC One at 13.00 GMT on Sunday 23rd November, 2014.

All the best Lewis!
