IN PICTURES: Kidnap of 230 Nigerian girls - How it all happened - BRING BACK OUR GIRLS CAMPAIGN

On 17 April 2014, the western African country of Nigeria woke up to the news that 230 teenage girls who had stayed behind in school to prepare for their WAEC (GCSE) exams had been kidnapped by armed men overnight.

Fast forward to 1 May, the girls have not been found. Nigeria which boasts a population of over 160 million people and one of the most advanced countries in Africa cannot devise a plan to rescue these school girls.


Controversy
No one has seen the list of names of the missing girls, the figures differ and life seems normal in the Northern Nigerian town where it happened.
