Magazine Review - ASHIRI

Rating:

Ashiri Magazine - Out now!
There is a new magazine in town and it is called ASIRI! Ashiri comes form the yoruba word meaning 'secret'. The Yoruba are the people who occupy the south western part of Nigeria in West Africa and their territory stretches right into the Republic of Benin. The Yoruba are made of peoples who speak about 14 different Yoruba dialects and are made up of the Egba, Ijesha, Oyo, Ibadan, Ijebu, Ife, Ondo and many others.

There have always been debates about the origin of the Yoruba and this magazine is set to put the records straight. It's Nigeria's first historical and cultural magazine. The magazine's Creative Director, Damola Ogundele of Wildeye Koncepts, says the magazine's first edition which is brave pioneering effort, is not about Oduduwa, the founder of the Yoruba kingdom but about Owa his son. Beautifully written and full of brilliant insights the magazine is a useful educational and entertainment resource for both the young and older generation.
The detailed drawings which tell the story of the origin of the world were illustrated by artists, Achipong David and Iladimini Oladapo Emanuel.

The magazine is truly international and has been published in English, German, Portuguese and French so that people from other cultures can enjoy it. ASIRI is set to be published online on a monthly basis.
