Rio Ferdinand attacked during Manchester derby match


Manchester, UK - Rio Ferdinand was left bleeding from the head when he was struck by a coin thrown from the fans in the stands on during the Manchester derby on Sunday.

As he celebrated his side's late win in the derby, a
fan threw a coin which struck the footballer on his face. The match which took place at the Etihad Stadium, a Manchester City was filled to capacity.

Football chief have called for crowd control netting in stadiums after the incident left Ferdinand bleeding from the injury just above his eye. Manchester City have issued an apology to Ferdinand and the Football Association have opened an investigation.
