been trumped up as the safest way to travel. 100 times safer than rail, water and 1000 times safer than travelling by road. As I write this, I can hear a plan fly past... people have to do what they have to do.
So, if like me you have to travel back 'home' regularly by air or for business or for holiday, how would be get to our destination safely and not collapse in fear every time you are up in the air and the plane makes a strange noise? I ask myself: "Am I still going to be able to go back home and visit my family?"
Well, here are five alternatives to travelling by air:
1. Walk. It may take you forever to get there and you may face a lot of danger on the way such as robbers, pirates in the desert and so on but at least you will be prepared to fight for your life. Take the short cut via the Mediterranean or the long route through Egypt. Our ancestors did it, so can you. This is not a good way to travel however if you have young children or if you are old, sick or if you are pregnant.
2. Ride a bike. Buy a sturdy bicycle and practise well before you take off. People have done it before and so it is nothing new. Just like the people who choose to walk, you can take the long route or take a boat across the Mediterranean.
3. Take a coach or a bus or simply drive. It would make your journey a bit shorter and you do not need to fear anything as there is power in numbers. Coaches have never disappeared before so you will travel in peace and get to enjoy the scenery.
So, what other ways do you know that can get me back to Africa in a safe and easy way?
