As Don Jazzy (Michael Collins Ajereh) and Dbanj (Dapo Oyebanjo) of Mo Hits
part ways after a successful partnership, the African king of pop has continued
on his journey of becoming a world famous music star. Ask any teenager black or
white on the streets of London
whether they have heard of Dbanj and their faces light up as they begin to sing 'Oliver Twist'. During the good times, Don Jazzy and Dbanj
managed to court the business of US music superstars Snoop Dog and
Kanye West who signed them into his G.O.O.D Music. We can confidently say that
through Don Jazzy's vision, Mo Hits has been able to become a global brand and
there is still a lot to look out for in the future from him.
Several uncomfirmed reasons have been cited as cause of the split but what is obvious is
that the partnership clearly did not work out and after six years these two
talented stars have had to go their separate ways. To confirm the fall-out, Don
Jazzy took to his twitter page and tweeted,
"Good day friends. So
sorry I have been away for long as I have been going through some changes in my
life. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of a long Era and the
beginning of a new one."
"Some of the Rumours you have all heard recently are sad but true. The
way forward now is to make sure I keep bringing you guys more of the beautiful
music you all love to dance to. And to end d old era, I will be donating the
proceeds of my production catalogue from day one till date to five charity
organizations. Thanks. IDJA"
Dbanj on the other hand is rubbing shoulders with American music stars and celebrities
and on Sunday he released the official video of his latest hit 'Oliver
Twist'.
