Black US soldier faced with guns and pepper spray after being pulled over by two police officers in Virginia
A black US army lieutenant has filed a lawsuit against two police officers who pointed their guns at him and pepper-sprayed his face during a traffic stop.
Lt Caron Nazario was pulled over while wearing his uniform in December in Windsor, Virginia.
A police report says his car was stopped for not displaying a licence plate, but a temporary one is visible.

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is the first woman, the first Black person and the first Asian American elected to the second highest office in the United States.
California Sen. Kamala Harris will become the next vice president of the United States, shattering another racial and gender barrier in American politics, at the end of a bruising presidential race that further exposed a bitterly divided electorate.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns in Nigeria, rising violence against women reached a crisis point, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency on the issue by the Nigerian governors’ forum, which also promised to set up a sex offenders registry, according to local news agencies. The move came after days of marches in which protesters “defied the lockdown restrictions to voice their anger over the recent wave of rape and murder of women and girls in the country.”
